What should I do if I'm experiencing a malware attack?

If you are experiencing an active malware attack, you must take immediate action.

  • Immediately disconnect your computer from the internet and any local networks (Wi-Fi, Ethernet). This prevents the malware from spreading to other devices and communicating with external servers. Disable Wi-Fi and unplug the Ethernet cable.
  • DO NOT open suspicious files or links and do not insert any USB drives or external devices that you suspect might be infected.
  • Turn off your device and contact your IT department or Internet Service Provider (ISP).
