Security Advisory: Linux Kernel Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability (CVE-2026-31431)
Distribute immediately to all Seigler Holdings Partners and Seigler Technologies customers.
Seigler Technologies is aware of and actively responding to the recently disclosed “copy fail” vulnerability (CVE-2026-31431), a local privilege escalation flaw within the Linux Kernel. To ensure the safety of our environment, partners, and customers, we have engaged our all-hands security protocol as of 5:00 pm ET. This means our entire engineering and support teams are working around the clock to address CVE-2026-31431 and maintain the integrity of our infrastructure.
While we have not observed any malicious exploits targeting the Seigler Technologies or Seigler Holdings infrastructure at this time, we are working to ensure all mitigation steps are taken. At the moment, we are reviewing all Linux-based components for potential exposure.
Cloud Hosting Customers: Under the Seigler Technologies Cloud Hosting Security Model, we believe customers are responsible for the security and patching of applications and code within their specific environments. Given the severity of CVE-2026-31431, all Linux-based virtual machines should be considered at risk until patched. While we are working to push updated base images, Seigler Technologies support is available to assist customers with manual patching upon request.
